Thanks to some precious documents kept in the Historical Archives of Oristano, in this video we will talk about special editions of Sartiglia, the famous medieval equestrian tournament that has been running for several centuries in Oristano for Carnival.
In fact, between the 16th and 19th centuries, extraordinary editions of Sartiglia took place for very special events such as births and marriages of kings, princes and princesses, war victories, canonisations, the discovery of saints' remains and royal visits.
Today we will talk about Sartiglia in honour of Saint Archelaus, the patron saint of Oristano city, which probably took place in 1616.
