The spirit of this Museum derives from a precious advice given by Marcel Le Glay, one of the most important classicists of the 20th century, when he visited the museum in 1983. The French scholar was struck by the preservation of the spirit of nineteenth-century collectors: he could still imagine people anxiously searching for gold inside the tombs of Tharros and collectors who saved the treasure of Tharros from scattering. So Marcel Le Glay suggested to preserve the value of those antiquarian collections in the Antiquarium Arborense.
