Guided tour in the Tower of Mariano II (also available in English language)
The city of Oristano was the capital of the kingdom of Arborea.
At the end of the 13th century the city had a defensive system that was developed by the king Mariano II de Bas Serra: a wall with three big towers and 28 smaller guard towers.
The Tower of Mariano II, built in 1290, was the north entrance to the city: it is also called Porta Manna, Porta Pontis and Tower of Saint Christopher.
