Guided tour in the Medieval Tower of Portixedda (also available in English language)
The city of Oristano was the capital of the kingdom of Arborea.
At the end of the 13th century the city had a defensive system that was developed by the king Mariano II de Bas Serra: a wall with three big towers and 28 smaller guard towers.
The original Tower of Portixedda was built in the 13th century, but the present round tower dates back to the period of Spanish dominion.
